SELF EMPLOYED PROGRAM

This program allows someone with experience in the cultural arts or athletics to apply to Canada as a self-employed person with an expectation to establish them in the same field and contribute to the cultural and athletic life of Canada. The professions to be considered for this stream are the following but not limited to:

  • Librarians, archivists, conservators and curators
  • Writers, translators and other communication professionals
  • Creative and performing artists
  • Photographers, graphic arts technicians and technical and coordinating occupations in motion pictures,

broadcasting and the performing arts.

  • Announcers and other performers.
  • Creative designers and crafts persons.
  • Athletes, coaches, referees and related

 

In order to be eligible to apply to this program the candidate must have enough proofs to prove the following

  • Relevant experience
  • Intention and ability to be self-employed in Canada
  • The program’s other selection criteria like education, language, adaptability and age
  • Clear medical, security and other conditions

The candidate must also have enough money to support himself/herself and the family in Canada.

START UP VISA

Canada’s start-up visa program gives entrepreneurs the opportunity to immigrate to Canada in order to establish a new business. Immigrant entrepreneurs must demonstrate that their business is innovative, will create new jobs for Canadians, and can compete on a global scale.

There are four requirements you need to meet in order to be eligible for a Canadian start-up visa:

  1. Have a qualifying business:
    • You must hold at least 10% of the voting rights attached to all shares of the company
    • Together with the designated organization, you must hold at least 50% of the voting rights attached to all shares of the company
  1. Have a letter of support from a designated organization:
    • You need to demonstrate that you have the support of a venture capital fund, angel investor group, or business incubator
    • In order to do this, you must pitch your business idea and convince the organization that it is worth supporting
    • The process of pitching your business idea will be different for each organization
    • If your pitch is successful, you will receive a letter of support from the organization which must be included in your start-up visa application
  1. Meet the language requirements:
    • You must take a language test from an approved agency and show that you meet the minimum level of the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 5 in either English or French in speaking, reading, listening, and writing.
  2. Proof of funds:
    • You need to show that you have enough money to support yourself and any dependents once you arrive in Canada. The amount you need depends on the size of your family.

 

CAREGIVER PROGRAM –

Home Child Care Provider Pilot

Home child care providers help busy parents watch after children and also may be required to help out with household duties. Care can be provided either in the employee’s own home or in their employer’s homes.

This pilot is open to applicants who are interested in jobs such as a(n):

  • Babysitter
  • Au pair
  • Live-in child caregiver
  • Private home child caregiver
  • Nanny
  • Parent’s helper
  • Foster parent
  • Child caregiver in a public setting such as a gym or shopping centre

 

Home Support Worker Provider Pilot

Home support worker providers are aimed to help senior citizens, people with disabilities and individuals going through rehabilitation. Responsibilities typically include preparing meals, feeding, bathing, changing dressings, administering medications and other routine housekeeping duties.

This pilot is open to applicants who are interested in jobs such as a(n):

  • At-home attendant for persons with disabilities
  • Family caregiver
  • Home support worker
  • Housekeeper
  • Live-in caregiver for seniors
  • Personal aide (home support)
  • Personal care attendant (home care)
  • Respite worker (home support)
  • Doula
  • Home visitor (infant care)
